Company Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join a £35bn turnover power engineering business in a leadership position which is currently involved in enormous infrastructure projects in the UK. With over 100 years of engineering heritage, you’ll join their expert power, transmission & distribution function.

Role Outline

This person will be required to produce high quality tenders on small scale substation projects such as switchgear maintenance contracts, upgrades, refurbs etc. Ideally you will have a good technical understanding & also the ability to be credible in front of clients to aid dealing with customer negotiation & queries. There will be an occasional requirement to visit client sites to gain a detailed understanding of their requirements. Therefore prior knowledge / experience in working in this area is key.


Take full responsibility for quality of tenders
Reviewing client enquiry documentation & understand their requirements
Subcontractor interaction & negotiation
Submission of work inline with customer deadline
Driven positive communication with all internal & external stakeholders
Interaction with clients teams with regard to commercial, contract administration, quantitative risk analysis, agreement of the risk register
Provide extensive support to the customer by holding tender follow up meetings including taking ownership and dealing with all post tender queries, preparing presentations and carrying out contract negotiations



Recognised engineering qualification minimum HNC
MV product knowledge and industrial substation experience
Good communication, presentation & negotiation skills
Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
Full driving license


Experience within transmission & distribution, HV cables & major civils industries
Experience of contracts terms; NEC3, FIDIC
